Outcomes

Integrate theories and concepts from liberal education into nursing practice Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision-making in the provisions of high quality nursing care, healthcare team coordination, and the oversight and accountability for care delivery in a variety of settings Critically evaluate evidence-based research in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes Demonstrate skills in using patient care technologies, information systems, and communication devices that support safe nursing practice Advocate for a variety of socio-political issues affecting healthcare through participation in legislative and political forums Incorporate inter-professional communication and collaborative skills into the delivery of evidence-based, culturally sensitive patient-centered care Provide innovative interventions to promote health and prevent illness in vulnerable populations Practice from a caring, professional nursing perspective by incorporating the values of social justice, diversity, and global awareness Integrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes through use of the nursing process to provide patient-centered care to patients across the lifespan from a diverse perspective.

Admission Requirements

Applying for Admission
In addition to meeting all requirements established for admission to Central Connecticut State 
University*, the applicant must: 

• Be licensed currently as a registered nurse in Connecticut;**
• Have completed a minimum of 45 undergraduate credits from an accredited college or 
   university;
• Have advisement by nursing faculty; 
• Meet specific immunization and OSHA requirements if required by outside community 
  partner;
• Successfully complete the state articulation agreement (35 credits of nursing transferred 
  from associate degree or diploma school program) prior to enrolling in NRSE 305; and 
• Complete the BSN program within five years of taking NRSE 305. 
* Admission to the University does not guarantee advancement to upper division nursing 
  courses.
** Applicants in their final year of a diploma or associate degree may be accepted on a 
   provisional basis
