LLA 621 Family and Community Literacy through Engagement & Collaboration

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to advocate for socially, culturally, and linguistically diverse families and communities in promoting, supporting, and/or enhancing children’s literacy and language development. Theoretical, pedagogical, and research issues as well as significant historic perspectives on family and community literacy that have influenced the development of programs and policy are examined. Finally, participants examine different frameworks, approaches, and programs to family and community literacy. A proposal for family-community and school partnership is completed.
