MATH 485 Introduction to Differential Geometry

This course discusses the classical theory of curves and surfaces in space and introduces the students to the basic concepts of Riemannian geometry including differentiable manifolds, the metric tensor, the Levi–Civita connection, and the Riemann curvature tensor.

class='sc-courselink' href='/en/2020-2021/undergraduate-graduate-catalog/all-courses/math-mathematics/200/math-222'>MATH 222 Calculus III, and either class='sc-courselink' href='/en/2020-2021/undergraduate-graduate-catalog/all-courses/math-mathematics/200/math-226'>MATH 226 Linear Algebra & Probability for Engineers or MATH 228 Introduction to Linear Algebra (all with a grade of C- or higher). Admission to a Master’s program is also an acceptable prerequisite.
